Hatta packs a lot in. The headline is the Hatta Dam, where you can hire kayaks and pedal boats on the famously blue water. Nearby, the activity hub offers mountain biking trails, a zipline, archery and more. Add scenic hiking and mountain-bike trails of varying difficulty, the heritage village, and some of the best stargazing and drone scenery in the emirate, and there's easily a full day — or a weekend — here.
The dam is the postcard shot: vivid blue-green water hemmed in by rocky peaks. Kayaks and pedal boats are available to rent on site, and a slow paddle into the quieter arms of the reservoir is the best way to take it in. Go early in the day for calm water, cooler temperatures and smaller crowds, especially on weekends.
Hatta sits about 90 minutes to two hours from central Dubai by car along a good, scenic road. The drive passes briefly through territory near the Oman border but the main route stays within the UAE — carry your ID just in case. The cooler months from October to April are by far the best time; summer is hot, though the altitude keeps it a touch cooler than the city.

Bring cash or card for activity rentals, a power bank, and a camera or drone if you have one — the scenery rewards it.
