Our fabric and construction

Inspired by the landscapes of the UAE — wear the wild side of it

Most t-shirt brands describe fabric in adjectives. Premium. Buttery. Luxe. None of those words mean anything you can check. Here are the actual specifications of what we make, and why each choice was made.

Wear the wild side of the UAE

Every t-shirt we make is drawn from a real place in the Emirates — heavyweight organic cotton, limited runs.

What 230gsm means

GSM is grams per square metre — the weight of the fabric. A typical high-street t-shirt runs 150–180gsm. Ours is 230gsm.

The practical difference is structure. A lightweight shirt drapes onto the body and shows everything underneath; a heavyweight one holds its own shape and hangs away from you. It also survives washing far better, because there is simply more cotton there to begin with. The trade-off is honest: 230gsm is a more substantial shirt, so in peak UAE summer the Regular fit breathes better than the Oversized.

Why 100% organic cotton

Organic cotton is grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilisers. It matters here for two reasons beyond the environmental one: it is fully breathable, which is not optional in this climate, and it takes direct-to-garment ink better than a cotton-polyester blend, giving a sharper print.

We do not blend in polyester. A poly-cotton shirt is cheaper to make and holds a print slightly longer, but it traps heat — which is the wrong trade in the Gulf.

Ribbed collar, taped seams

The collar is a ribbed crew neck. Ribbing is knitted with more elasticity than the body fabric, so the neckline returns to shape instead of stretching out and going wavy — which is how most t-shirts visibly die.

The collar and shoulder seams are taped: a strip of fabric bound over the seam on the inside. It stops the shoulders from twisting over time and takes the strain off the stitching. It is a small manufacturing cost that shows up years later.

DTG printing versus embroidery

Two of our designs carry a printed graphic. DTG sprays ink into the fibres rather than laying a film on top, so the graphic stays soft, the fabric keeps breathing, and there is no plastic panel across your back. It flexes with the cotton instead of cracking. On both of those designs the logo itself is embroidered — so a single shirt carries two techniques, ink and thread.

The Empty Quarter design goes further and is embroidered throughout, with no print at all — thread stitched into the cloth, tonal against the fabric. Embroidery has a raised texture you can feel, catches light differently through the day, and will not fade the way a print eventually can. The polo is embroidered too.

How to make it last

Wash cold and inside out. Heat is what fades a print fastest, and washing inside out protects both print and embroidery from abrasion.

Hang to dry rather than tumble drying — tumble drying is the main cause of both shrinkage and cracking. Skip fabric softener; it coats the fibres and dulls the finish. Do not iron directly onto a print.

Where it is made

Our fabric is sourced from Pakistan, one of the world's major cotton-producing countries. The designs are created here in the UAE. We say designed in the UAE rather than made in the UAE, because that is the accurate description.

Frequently asked questions

Is 230gsm too heavy for UAE weather?

It is a heavyweight tee, so it is more substantial than a thin fast-fashion shirt — that is what gives it structure and longevity. It is 100% breathable cotton with no polyester. For peak summer, the Regular fit breathes more than the Oversized.

Will the print crack?

DTG ink bonds into the cotton rather than sitting on top as a thick layer, so it flexes with the fabric instead of cracking. Washing cold and hanging to dry rather than tumble drying is what makes the difference long term.

Will it shrink?

The fabric is pre-washed to minimise shrinkage. Wash cold, hang dry, and you should see very little movement. Hot washes and tumble dryers cause shrinkage.

Is the cotton certified organic?

The fabric is 100% organic cotton sourced through our supplier. We are working on publishing certification details and will add them here once confirmed.
