Our designs turn the deserts, dunes and dark-sky nights of the Emirates into something you can wear. This is how we help keep those places wild.
Why the ghaf
The ghaf (Prosopis cineraria) is the national tree of the UAE — indigenous to the region and one of the hardiest plants that will grow in the desert. It needs very little water, its deep roots stabilise the sand, and it enriches the soil and provides shade and shelter for desert wildlife. A single mature ghaf can absorb a meaningful amount of carbon each year.
For a brand built on the UAE’s wild landscapes, no tree makes more sense: planting ghaf is planting the desert itself back.
Give a Ghaf, by Goumbook
Give a Ghaf is a UAE tree-planting program launched by Goumbook in 2011 to raise awareness of the ghaf tree and get indigenous trees back into the ground. Seeds are collected, germinated and raised in nurseries until the seedlings are strong enough to plant, then given to the community — homes, farms, schools, parks and open land across the Emirates.
We’re proud to plant through an established local program rather than going it alone, so every tree is looked after by people who know how to make it survive the desert.
